Ho do I remove mutiple inquiries from the same agency?

What is the name of your state? NC

A collection agency keeps pulling my credit about every three months. This can not be good. Is there a way to get them to stop? The original debt is not even with them and it is 10 years old. They can not be a legitimate company.

There may not be much you can do about this. They have the right to make inquiries, but too many inquiries during a certain period can somehow be interpreted by other creditors as somewhat bad, though it's not your fault. Discuss this with one of the credit bureaus to see if they can suggest a solution.

So has the collection agency contacted you by phone or by mail about this? You need to at least let them know whether or not you intend to pay all or part of this debt, unless the statute of limitations has expired, or they will keep making inquiries to see if you can afford to pay it.

Hard pulls every 3 months ?? That's pretty close to file poisoning, which is illegal. The debt, if its really 11 years since it was last paid, is uncollectable, the SOL has expired in every state if this is a credit card.

You could send them a cease and desist, tell 'em to get lost, the debt is time-barred.

Is the debt still on your reports ??

The debt dropped off of reports within 7 years. I currently have a new account with the original company. I have recently sent letters to the collection agency and forwarded copies to the original company. Hopefully the suggestions you give me will help get rid of these snakes. Thanks for the advice.

I have been doing a ton of research on cleaning up credit trying to clean my DFs credit up b4 I marry him Anyways, if the debt is 11 years old it should be past the SOL in your state therefor there is no permissable purpose for them to pull a hard. It is a violation of the fair credit laws.

Send them a certified letter stating basically that they are in violation of the fair credit act, youll have to find the actual statute. The violation fine (paid to you) is $1000. Tell them that they have 30 days to delete the hard pulls or you will expect a certified bank check in your name for EACH hard pull not deleted.

You may find better info as well as sample letters at
