Hospital facility billing charges? What is the name of your state? Michigan I received stiches from Hurly hospital. They charged me 200 somthing for the stiches and shots etc.. Thats fine. They also tacked on a 700 dollar facility fee. What is this fee and can they charge whatever they want to? I know people that got stiches they same way I did and it only cost the stiches fee no facility fee. I only had 6 stiches by the way. I think the extra 700 dollars is rediculous, I waited in the emergency room forever, and a nurse stiched me up in 10 minutes.. If you know anything about facility billing, any help would be great. Thank you. |

My brother once went to the emergency room. doctor charges, $400 X-rays and MRI, $900 hospital charge, $6200. Not receiving an accurate diagnosis, Priceless.

The facility fee is charged for the specific room the use for certain procedures and, yes, they can charge whatever they want to charge but must accept the insurance company's "approved" amount. If you are uninsured, try calling the patient advocate or billing department at the hospital. Some facilities will make special arrangements for regular payments on the account. good luck.
