How do I get rid of these creeps?

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?NY

A creepy collection agency(lawyers)froze my checking account. They sent me a form letter saying they have a judgement against me in court(filed in 2002) It says I must send them information about me(form letter etc) by Dec 10 or I'll be in contempt of court. The debt is a credit card bill for about $2,000. I'm unemployed and flat broke. I've been trying to get a lawyer but legal aid told me they were out of funds. I didn't know that it is a crime to be poor. Can only rich people get a lawyer? What can these creeps do to me? How can I get my money unfrozen (It's all I have- $1,600). Plus I don't have a phone and these creeps keep calling my brother who I don't live with.(He told them to stop calling, I don't live there). I don't want to call these creeps or send them information about me. Can I defend myself in court? What was my crime-BEING POOR! Happy Holidays!

Run, hide, disregard, snooze, lose. Welcome to the real world.

You must fill out the form they sent and return it to the court otherwise you could face contempt of court charges which in turn could place you in jail.

The checking account is gone. You're not going to get it back unless you can prove the funds are exempt (ex: Social security, disability).

The worst has already happened with them receiving the judgment against you.
