How to find what Collection Agency has your debt?

What is the name of your state? IL

Does anyone know how to find the company that has a debt? My husband has an acct with Dayton/Hudson that went to collections. We have not gotten a letter in a few months, and can't find the one we had. This is our last debt to pay off. Does anyone know where we can go to find that information? We don't want to get "served", and want this taken care of. Thanks in advance.

call the original creditor -- they know what CA has the debt
