How to get money back

What is the name of your state?Pennsylvania..In 2000 I gave over 80,000 to someone. Is it still possible to get any of this money back. I lived in N.Y. when I gave the money. Is there a SOL on something like this and what is it in both states? What would be the first step to take. The only proof I have is a bank check for a car that the person has which is not in my name,other than that only withdrawl statements showing money taken out during the period I was associating with the person. I would really appriciate any serious advice..
