How to obtain original mortgage contract

What is the name of your state? I am located in NJ but the property (a timeshare) is located in Florida.

My wife and I bought a timeshare a few years ago. I had some concerns about the mortgage but I'm having trouble locating our original documents. We had a flood in our basement and I have a bad feeling that the documents were thrown out.

My first question, where is the best place to obtain copies of these documents? Should I try to find tham at a government agency or go back to the lendor?

My second question is regarding a website I had seen awhile ago claiming something along the lines that if the lendor couldn't produce copies of the contract with our signatures on them that the loan would be considered null and void. At the time I felt the website was just some kind of scam but the thought crossed my mind that if they don't have copies what would I do?

Also, any thoughts on where I (a layman obviously) can read further on mortgage law concerning what changes (if any) a lendor can make while servicing the loan? Perhaps when I get the copy I'll just come back here with my question.

How I did it

I live in Florida, I went to the website for my county property appraisers website. I then searched under my name and found my property. There was a section at the bottom (in my county's I don't know about yours) with sales history and I clicked on my purchase and it took me to images of my warranty deed and mortgage documents. I saved them as images and then used word to print out as images on legal sized paper. They even had the stamp from the courthouse on them which saved a lot of problems.

Listen you little twit!!
You clearly don't know the difference between a deed of trust and a mortgage note.
Your own post confuses the two. And your 'confusion' is continued as you still don't know the difference.

In any case, I realy don't give a crap about whether you ever get a copy of whatever paperwork you are trying to get. I was trying to help you.... for free. And you are simply, not 'worthy' of my time.
So, kiss my ass..... and go find it on your own.
And yes, I have deleted my earlier posts.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

Where are the rest of the posts?

Does anyone know what happened to the rest of the posts in this thread (discussion)?

I thought I was given two good and appropraite answers to my question and when I went back to reread the posts I found that at least one of the posts had been removed and the two people that had answered my question seemed to have gotten nasty with each other.

I'm just curious what happened because I wanted to post a "thank you" to the people that offered their help. In fact, I thought that I had already posted a "thank you" and I was really just checking to make sure. My memory isn't that great these days.

Well, thanks anyway!
