I just filed chapter 7 bankruptcy....

What is the name of your state? florida

And started looking through the exemptions and it has a section for wages. It talks about 500 dollars a week is exempt. Can they garnish your wages in a chapter 7???? I though that was only for an ch.13? Am I right?

Once you start the BK process, hire Atty. etc. CA must stop all collection actions. And if your BK goes thru all collections are done forever on the debts you include in your BK. Of course we are talking about CH. 7.
