I'm BEING SUED by my UNIVERSITY!

I received a letter today that I am being SUED by the university I attended b/c I did not pay the left over ammount and I had signed a PROMISSORY NOTE. The reason i didnt pay it is b/c i dont have the money and i have been in an out of hospitals for the last 2 years. Mental and physical health. I have these reccords. I dont have a full-time job... which only pays for monthly bills.
Do i call up the universtiy and ask them for help on this matter?
What happens if i dont pay this in 30 days? what can i do??

IT STATES THAT IF I DONT ANSWER IN 30 DAYS A DEFAULT JUDGEMENT WILL BE ENTERED AGAINST ME....

what can i do/??????????

Well, first of all I would definitely respond as soon as possible. I would also recommend calling the school and speaking with their Bursar's office to see if they will set up some kind of payment plan. If they don't agree and you have to go to court, make sure you take anything that you think will help the judge to see that you would have difficulties with a judgement right now.

Someone else might have a different take on this, so check back a little later for more answers.
