information subpoena to my family

What is the name of your state? NY

Hi, I offered to settle a bad debt with a law firm collecting the debt. Unsecured credit card debt. I wasn't able to meet their settlement amount right now.

They then sent an information subpoena with a restraining notice to both my brother and wife.


I thought family members were not supposed to be contacted by credit collectors. My brother was not aware that I had a credit issue.

Are they allowed to do this?
