judgement enforcement


What is the name of your state? nj


a judgement has been entered against me from a debt i incurred in 1986 (written contract from an emoployment agency) I just got letter from them a couple months ago. The letter from the lawyer also says that there will be a $35.00 fee for filing a warrant of satisfaction. what should i do?

This debt would be way out of the statute of limitations.

Were you served notice of the court hearing? If so, they you missed your chance to raise SOL as an affirmative defense. If not, then you should go to the courthouse and ask to see the file. You should read the file to see what it says about service of notice.

You might be able to file a motion to have the judgment vacated if the service was improper.

Otherwise, about all you can do is pay the judgment. If not, you are at risk for having your wages and bank account garnished.
