Judgement and Lien on propertyWhat is the name of your state? Colorado I have a judgement and property lien that has been satisfied. I am trying to sell my house so I contacted the Atty (debt collection Atty) and he said "oops I forgot to tell you their is 700.00 more owed on interest". He now has sent me through the Courts a letter for asset information. I never received anything in writing about the "additional" $700.00. What can I do?? Jeanette |

| Ask for an accounting of the debt. The attorney is probably correct, but you do have the right to see how it is calculated. DC

More infoOk so I will ask for that for sure! Thank you for your answer! Let me make myself perfectly clear as I think I missed a few of the details. I have satisfied the dollar amount of the judgement. He told me that in a verbal communication a while back. So lets assume the judgement is totally satisfied (I have proof in checks written) BUT now he says I owe more. I was never notified I owe more in writing and he will not release the judment (the initial amount that I HAVE paid). Does this info make sense? |

| The problem is that unpaid judgments accrue statutory interest and in CO that is 8% annually. So, while you might have paid off the amount awarded in the judgment, now you have to pay the interest that's been accruing on that judgment.
