What is the name of your state? CA

I'd like to show that I am head of household to prevent wage garnishment. Do I file a form with the court?

ThanksWhat is the name of your state?

How does being head of household absolve you from paying for your debts. (oh, would but that were true!!! )

thanks for your sarcasm. it was kind of unnecessary..... not trying to get out of paying debt. actually, i read on this board that you can file as head of household to limit the amount of the wage garnishment. i'm a single mother of two and don't have much disposable income.

I know in Fl. you can't garnish wages of a person who qualifies as head of household (for unsecured debt.) That's the only state I know. Actually, there's really no law in Fl. prohibiting the garnishment of wages for head of household but there are laws which make it very hard/difficult to do so. Maybe someone else will know about Ca. My info re Ca. doesn't say anything about an exemption from wage garnishment for a head of household.
