judgment problem

What is the name of your state?new jersey
dear free advice:
I have a judgment on my credit report which I want to settle it.The judgment
came from a car title loan company in Delaware.I took this loan in july 2001
for $2400.since I didn't pay them, they hired a lawyer to sue me and wanted me to pay $4700(base + interest).I agree to pay but I didn't because I was in a financial crisis.now, both experian and equifax show civil claim paid status, but transunion show case filed.recently I call the loan company to negotiate a deal to settle this matter. They offer me $3000 to settle the case, but I have to pay them in cash.they also offer to change the judgment in my credit report to account in good standing.I have no problem paying them, but I really don't want to pay them in cash.I offer bank check and money order.but they wouldn't accept it.what should I do?please help!
thanks.

I would be very reluctant to pay cash. A cashier's check would be the standard way to handle something like this.

Be sure to get your agreement in writing. Be sure the agreement says exactly what they are supposed to do.

Just curious -- who is the law firm that insists on cash?
