junked cars

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

We junked a car many years ago, like 5, but i guess the junk people never transfered title or anything. Our municipality keeps calling, they want thousands of dollars because we never purchased parking sticker for the car and of the last 5 years.

They want us to prove we dont have the car, they never found it parked on the street. I cant do that, what should i do.

oh we did transfer the licence and insurance...not really sure how to get that information...least not licence...apparantly my husband simply purchased new parking stickers not knowing the old were transferable for a fee. But why do i have to go running about just because i had a parkign sticker on a car one year and not the next.
