Do you owe a lawyer money or is the lawyer who is contacting you a lawyer for a debt collection agency?

Nothing prevents you from sending to someone a cease and desist letter. Sending a cease and desist does not prevent the one in receipt of the letter from ignoring it. It does not prevent a lawsuit. In fact, sending a cease and desist to someone that you actually owe money to could hasten the filing of a lawsuit against you.

Is your question here related to the question you asked in your other thread? Here is a link to that thread: https://forum.freeadvice.com/landlord-tenant-issues-42/issue-nearly-4-year-old-case-629156.html
