Left the country with debt....

What is the name of your state? Wisconsin
My (adult) daughter left the country four months ago to "escape" from what she thought was insurmountable credit card debt. Summons servers and attorneys have been looking for her. She has now decided to come back and face the music but is worried that she will be arrested when she enters the country. 1) Is there any chance of this? 2) What's the next step for her - she was in the initial stages of filing bankruptcy when she disappeared.
Thanks - worried parent

No, she will not be arrested for being in debt.

As far as the next step, it is hard to say what her next step is since you have not provided any information on what kinds of debts these are, what the DOLA is on them, if the creditors are seeking judgments against her, where she is in the bankruptcy process, etc.

More information is needed to answer your second question.

Thanks for the input. She has about $11,000 in credit card debt, I think. She visited a lawyer and discussed bankruptcy, but left the country before the papers were filed in court. I think the debts are 3-4 yrs old. I'm assuming the cc companies are seeking judgements against here if the summons servers are looking for her. Is it too late for her to file bankruptcy?
