loan to a friend, now being threatened

An associate of mine came to me and asked for a short term loan. The amount was for $2000 over a period of two weeks, the repayment amount was $2200, at her suggestion. She assured me she would repay the loan, and gave me her grandmothers 3 carat diamond earrings as collateral. This was almost a month ago, have contacted her, and got little replay except for check in the post, for partial amount. Check has never arrived. Where do i go form here. Can I add daily interest to the amount owed ?

I have been in touch with the lady by Yahoo Instant Messenger, and now her boyfriend has been in touch and threatened me with violence. This statement has being saved. Can I approach the police with this, what is my next move.
