Locked Bank Account

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? New York

Last week a collection agent locked my checking account I have jointly with my fiance. The debt is in her name but not mine and none of here money is in that account. We have proven that and trying to negotiate a payment plan but they will not unlock the account, is there anything that can be done?

1. don't have a joint account with someone who has a huge debt
2. don't have a joint account with a fiance or boyfriend/girlfriend
