What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Wisconsin
We are disabled and only income is disability SSD. What do I need to to do to protect what little we have, Do I call their lawyer and tell them we only have SSD? Is there paperwork I need to fill out to protect us? Do I go to the court date May 14 which is over an hour away and I don't have money for the Gas to get there. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.

Realistically if your only income is SSI, SSDI or both, you're what's called "judgment proof".

They can't touch those funds.

This is a general list of exemptions (things they also can't touch) for Wisconsin: http://www.badgerlaw.net/Home/PublicWeb/LAW/Publications/Consumer/exemptions
