What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Pennsylvania

When a medical provider is given insurance information and doesn't send claim to insurance company, is there a statue of limitations to how long they have to file the claim? A friend got collection notification regarding a medical bill and when they called CA to get date of service and provider's name, they then contacted Ins. Company and they agreed to pay but hospital refused to send claim. They want the consumer to pay the bill. Is this right? Someone mentioned that the provider had a certain amount of time to send claim.

the time to send the bill to the insurance company is determined by the insurance company.

Was this a PPO insurance and was the hospital a listed provider?

what kind of timeline are you talking about here?

and the easy way to do it would be for the patient to file the claim with the insurance company themselves.

and can you answer the other questions?

was your insurance contract a PPO?

is the hospital a listed provider in the list of preferred providers?
