Medical Bills payment plan - but turned to collections

I had medical bills from physical therapy. The doc office never told me my insurance had paid for all they would pay until I had 11 more visits completed. Kept collecting my copay each time.

I stopped going when I realized this and set up a payment plan.

Been making payments as agreed before due dates.

Got a letter from collection agency threatening judgment against me. Can they turn me to collections when I am making the payments as agreed? They have given this company all my personal identity information (i.e. soc sec number).

Any advice is appreciated!

Yes, they can. It is not uncommon to hand off medical collections to a collection agency after 90 days. Doctors, hospitals and other medical facilities generally do not want to be in the collection business, tracking accrued interest and taking small payments for months/years on end.
