Medical dept and Insurance coverage blues

I have a 40,000.00 medical dept because of an unplanned early morning emergency room visit to local Mt Diable Hospital.My wifes insurance health plan was not scheduled to start until Dec 1st and I am admitted and scheduled for a Gull bladder removal asap. We told hospital staff that we currently had no medical insurance that I was unemployed and that my wifes employment health coverage was not active. We submitted the claim thru wifes employer health plan and where told sorry no coverage at time of surgery.Recently I applied for hardship consideration thru the hospital and was denied due to UNsubmitted paper work. Liars!! Collection agencys calling non stop.
