Missed appointment Fee?

What is the name of your state?California

I went to a dentist in Nov of 2004. According to them i set a return appointment with them for May 2005 upon completion of my cleaning. I don't remember doing that. Since the Nov apt I moved and never intended to go to that dentist again. I rec'd a forwarded piece of mail from them yesterday.
It was a bill for the apt they claim i missed at the beginning of this month. They expect me to pay $150. Can they do this? How could they hope to collect? Should i do anything (besides pay) to avoid it effecting my credit?
