my old unpaid credit card massachusetts

What is the name of your state?massachusetts
i have a few credit cards from 1994-5 and am now receiving letters not from orig cred card bank and not first collector but the 2nd collector listing the first collector as to whom debt is owed do i owe them? isnt there a statute of limitations on debt like this?
