NCO Financial calling wrong house for a yearWhat is the name of your state? FL After a year or so of this company calling from at least 3 separate numbers and leaving collection messages, and being told they have the wrong number repeatedly, I'm now needing to make sure that I do as much to hurt them financially and/or legally as is possible. Last week I wasted an hour getting to a person that was supposed to be able to see all company DB's and was supposed to have actually found my number matched to a different entity and removed it**************..this week the messages continue on my answering machine and their idiot employees continue to hang up on me and can never find my number in their DB. Now I want to just deal with them, so I would appreciate all advise. I know I need to do the cease and desist letter, so that will get done, and I'm now taking names and numbers and keeping answering machine messages. Calling the phone company tomorrow to be certain that no one has forwarded a number to my number, and to inquire on tracing procedures..... I would appreciate your feedback on what all I can do to this company.... Best regards |

| NCO got slapped with a HUGE fine last year by the FTC, one of the largest fines on record (so far). So, you need to call or go on line and file a complaint with the FTC. Even though its not you they're really after, their practice of harrassing the wrong person is ridiculous.

| Thanks for the quick reply**************.. Do I have any legal ground to go after them myself for the harrassment, i.e., do I have ground to bring a suit against them? I have no problem reporting them to the FTC, but I also wouldn't want to miss an opportunity to go after them personally. Thanks again**************.. |

| The FDCPA came about largely to stop collectors from the abusive practices they were always engaged in. Plenty of them still thumb their noses at the law because, frankly, the penalties for violating it just are not strong enough. You are not only be harrassed for a debt that is NOT YOURS, but they are using illegal tactics to do it ! You DO have a right of action -- go to www.naca.net and find a consumer protection lawyer who might be willing to take your case.
