Need help, regarding rights of registered owner

What is the name of your state? Virginia

I posted this in another area, Sorry.

Long story short, My ex financed a vehicle for me. I am the only registered owner. Needless to say he is my ex now, and is trying everything in his power to hurt me. I paid him directly for the car note. Never once was late. Have proof.

Today I am awakened by a neighbor infoming me to the police by my vehicle. Ex has the police with him and he is according to the police and dmv as of yesterday the newly appointed registered owner. I had no choice but to gather my belongings and surrender the vehicle.

He gave the police a registration card, and a declaration of insurance dated on 6-5-07.

The police were just doing their job.

However, I did not sign or transfer the vehicle to him. How is it possible that he was able to get it registered ? I called the bank that is financing the vehicle because according to my ex, they are the ones who transferred the registered owner. Because the loan is in his name. I called the bank, and they do NOT make any register changes on vehicles, the only interest they have in the vehicle is financial. However a representative assured me that either 1. he forged my name on the registration or 2. He insured the vehicle in his name, and took the declaration of insurance to dmv which listed him as the owner of the vehicle and processed it in that way.

What can I do? What rights do I have ?

Please help.
