Need some advices!Thanks!

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Tennessee
I once had a car accident On Dec 2002. One of the bill was finally delivered to me on Mar 2004, which was far after I settled down with the car insurance company.
I negiotiated with the billing agency and tried to get some reduction because I have to pay for half of it by myself (half of it was paid by my health insurance). I sent them a hardship letter on April 2004 and they promised me they were going to give me an offer by mail. But i never got those offer by mail (I talked to them serveral times regarding the offer). Today, I got a call from a collection agency and ask for the $4000.
I called the origina billing agency immediately and they said they didn't have my correct address and all the mails sent to me had been returned. I think they are just liars because I did kept upgrading my address all the time. I don't think them send me any offer letter ever.
In this situation, what should I do? Should I hire a lawer to handle it because I think they were cheating on me all the time?
Thanks!

If you owe the bill, pay it.

two more questions

Thanks. I never said I would not pay the bill. I just felt uncomfortable when they gave my bill to a collection agency. I have two more questions. Can I talk to the original billing agency and ask them to withdrawn their submittion from the collection agency? If they are going to give some reduction, I'll pay it. Or Can I get some reduction from the collection agency?
