not sunny in florida

What is the name of your state? fl

Hello and Good afternoon,

Myself and my ex-wife had an old car loan debt from 1996. The bank placed a Judgment on our credit for $3800.00. I had forgotten the judgment over the years and since have a new (wonderful) wife and kids. Last week a sheriff and a wrecker came by and seized my vehicle. The debt is owned by a different company now which I called and tried to negotiate a payoff. I offered them the payoff amount but they want me to pay $8300.00 to settle the account. I don't have this money and they have our family car. Is there anything I can do to help myself. I have on the back of my Notice of Seizure a Florida Statue 932.701-704 Adversarial Preliminary Hearing. Is this the right course. I really want to settle the debt but the debt holders are not being reasonable. The vehicle that was seized is new. We have had it for 6 months and have not even stratched the principal amount on the loan. Can the auction this vehicle off?

Thank you, Jason

I know. But I was hoping to find a good answer. And so far no one has commented on my question.
