What is the name of your state? New York
I have noticed on legal papers such as a Affidavit of Service that a Notary Public stamps his name,etc; it says "Qualified in Nassu County"

Does this mean that his seal is only good in that county?
If so, does this make the papers he has signed and stamped Invalid if the papers are for another county?

If New York is like my state, I get my notary license through the county, it is issued by the state and is legal anywhere in the U.S.

Same here. To be honest, I don't know why they bother listing the county, as you can search by name alone. But they're still good anywhere in the state.

Note that the website lags the real world by several weeks (to several months!), so be sure to confirm your results with a phone call before making any motions or otherwise embarassing yourself.

I'm in Ohio. On every document that I notarize, I am required to list the county in which the notariziation took place, even if the document is for another county. My commission is for the entire state.
