Paid to avoid damaging credit, Can I sue? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? California Hello, I was recently hit with a bill I did not believe to owe. After numerous attempts to contact some one to get it resolved, I was told everytime that it was their policy to charge what they did. I must have spoken to 3 dozen people at all levels of the company. They kept on telling me that they were going to send me to collections if I did't pay. I have very good credit and didn't want it ruined. Their threats became more serious and I paid them in order to not have my credit damaged. The amount was trivial, $95, but it was the principal of the matter to me... they shouldn't just be able to charge you, force you to pay, and threaten to hurt your credit if you don't. On my check I wrote that it did not represent my admission of the debt. Now that they are no longer threatening to hurt my credit, can I sue them for it back? Or by paying them did I give up that right? For future reference, what should some one do in this situation? Is there a way to protect your credit while not having to pay? What is the statute of limitations on this matter? Thanks for all your help! RJ P.S. The company in question is Card Services International, a merchant services company. I will never do business with them nor their affilliates again. |

| "...The company in question is Card Services International, a merchant services company. I will never do business with them nor their affilliates again...." Correct me if I am wrong. You did business with this company. They wanted $95. You gave them $95. What is it you want to do to them now? |

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport! |
