Paid debt but still on report

What is the name of your state? OH
I paid an a collection agency Credit Protection Association for $59 for a past due Time Warner Cable bill two years ago. I paid the debt online with my debit visa card and I got a copy of my bank statement showing I paid it. I called the company about 18 months ago and also 6 months asking them to take it off since I paid it. They didn't want to hear my story they just said it will take 8 weeks to investigate my claim of payment. I made a dispute with experian but they just sent me a letter stating the debt still remains. Anything else I can do? I hate to mail another payment and they don't give me any credit and I hate to speed thousands of dollars in attorney fees to battle a $59 bill.

You are under the misconception that paying a debt erases it from your credit report. It does not, never has, and likely never will. At best it will report as a paid collection -- which is still a negative and wlll stay on your reports for the standard 7-1/2 years from date of first delinquency.

It is listed as an unpaid debt on my credit report that is what I'm trying to fix. The company still says I owe it even though I have proof I paid it but their investigation and experian denies it. I know it will stay on the report I want it to say paid.

Ok then !

If you've already disputed it with the credit bureaus, now is the time to dispute it directly with the furnisher of the erroneous information, as is your right under FACTA. The creditor must abide by the same investigation rules as the CRA. If you have proof that it was paid, then include that information with your dispute. If they can't verify the accuracy of the data, the tradeline must be removed.
