paid in full on check memo

I was convicted of a DUI in New Jersey in 1985, 21 years ago...at the age of 22. The state is coming after me for $3,000 in "surcharges". I wrote a check for the ridiculous request about 3 months ago, for $55.00 and wrote paid in full to complete accord and satisfaction, on the memo line. They are still after me. I have a copy of the cashed check and have since written 3 letters. What can I do? This is ABSURD !! thanks!!!

This is funny. See you had a chance to beat out the $3,000 based on SOL for either the debt or the criminal charge (you would have had to talk to an attorney about that), but you sent a check.

By sending a payment, you acknowledged the debt and restarted the SOL for the debt. That little game of writing paid in full on a check is fiction.

I love seeing people who play games like that get tripped up in them. Pay the rest of it now.

lol
