Partners Debts but my Goods

I have moved in with my partner and she has been getting debt letters from bailliffs, the house we live in is full furnished and my partner does not own anything except clothes.

I have recently bought a new T.V, games console for the kids, laptop and t.v surround system and dvd player and pc tower and pc.

My partners debts are from a previous relationship and total £2500, local council rent and council tax.

How can i stop the bailliffs taking what i have bought as these debts relate too old addresses where my partner lived?????
