Payment if notified of arbitration

What is the name of your state? TX

I received a notice of arbitration on an MBNA account that I thought had been paid off. Long story short is that I cannot find an irrefutable record of payment. So, if I send a check to begin paying down the quoted amount in the arbitration letter will it have any effect on or about the arbitration.

Bottom line is that we hit hard times and have been paying down debts. I know PSL doesn't want to hear yet another sob story. So, I am wondering if I send them what I can, when I can, is there any restrictions on what they can do or advantage to me for doing so?
