Phone billWhat is the name of your state? OH My wife just recieved a bill from a collection agency for a phone bill for around $200. This was from a bill from 2001. It was also from an address that she never lived at but in the town where we both went to college in OH. The problem is that her social is on the bill. The bill is from verizon who bought the original phone company. I don't want to hurt our credit over $200 but it seems ridiculous to pay for something we are not responsible for. Does anyone have any advice? Is there any realistic way to get out of this. Also, we live in Denver CO now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Andrew |

| Looks like someone else was using your wife's SS #. WRITE (keep a copy) the Coll Agency and tell them that your wife never lived there and NEVER used that phone company. Also tell them NOT to report this to any of the Credit Bureaus. You will probably not hear from them again. Wait 3 months and check your Credit Report. A FREE Credit Report can be obtained from https://www.annualcreditreport dot com/cra/index.jsp This is a truly FREE service - NOT the FREE CR you see advertised on TV that costs you $89.00 per month for 12 months. |
