Please Help!

What is the name of your state? IN
About 2 months ago, was in a car accident in parking lot, didn't realize but let my insurance payment lapse for about 5 days. The insurance company paid $2500.00 to the person that I hit or hit me (very debateable) but since I didn't have insurance, was considered my fault. I had all the intentions to paying them, but for some reason the insurance company didn't have my phone number and decided to charge off the debt. The debt went to a collection agency, that was harassing me every single day, so I finally told them that I would pay them, and like an idiot gave them my checking account number over the phone. Now I am freaking out because I read all these things about collection agencies and that you should only pay them partially and make them take the debt off of your credit. I asked the rep. to clear my credit history and she said that they can't do that. Now, after paying them $750.00 I don't feel like I should pay them anymore since my credit is ruined, unjustly since I made an innocent mistake. What should be done in this situation. Please Help!

You made the mistake. Innocent or not, YOU are the cause. You owe the money. And that garbage you've been reading about forcing them to remove the entry is just that, garbage. No collection agency is going to do that. Pay your bill.

so you let your insurance lapse, you let the company pay 2500.00 dollars on your behalf, you got it placed on your credit so you dont feel the need to repay? Are you insane? be glad they did not turn you in the the DMV or whomever because in most states, it is illegal to drive without insurance!!!

Everyone knows when they haven't paid a bill. You got caught with your pants down so to speak, now it's time to pay the piper.
