Please help - Removing judgment from credit report

Hello,

I recently had a judgment appear on my credit report. I discovered it inadvertently while checking my credit report.

The judgment was dated 2/07. My understanding is that even after I've paid it, it will remain on my credit report as a negative entry, marked as "satisfied".

Is there a way to have it removed? I have heard of a "vacating" letter, which would ask the plaintiffs to sign a document that essentially removes the judgment. Is this something I should give to them to sign in exchange for payment?

Any help is greatly appreciated, as I have a clean credit history and am looking to purchase a home soon.

It can sometimes be removed by mistake. Go to creditboards.com. Use the forums. They offer lots of help. They have no incentive at all to accept your letter in exchange for payment. It is legally allowed to be there. This is not a legal issue.
