Question about removing information from my credit file. What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Tennessee I have things on my credit report that aren't very costly, just a bunch of small things really. Would it work if I send a check to the creditor or collection agency with a note attached that says something along the lines that if they cash the check they agree to contact the credit bureaus and have the information removed from my file? If they cash the check do they legally have to abide by removing the negative information? Thank You |

| You've got the right idea but the wrong way to go about it. What you want to do is send the creditor a letter asking for a "pay for delete". If the creditor agrees to accept payment and delete the item from your credit report, they will have to sign an agreement you will have written. If they break the agreement you have ammo to sue by. Check out http://www.creditboards.com for sample letters and more info. |
