Question on a judgement

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MN

In May 2006 I was served with papers on a couple car loans due to getting behind in payments. I immediately caught the account up but they followed through to get the judgement. Counting that initial amount I have payed several hundred more than the judgement was for to the bank and have received copies of the loan papers marked paid. Now they are telling me that they spent $3000 for the legal filings and attorney fees and that they would give me a satisfaction of judgement and release the titles if I paid them an additional $1500.

This does not seem right to me. Essentially I paid the balance plus interest and now they are holding this additional amount over my head. How should I approach this?

All I currently have is the loan papers marked paid. I would have to see about getting copies of the statements since I did not hold onto them for some stupid reason.

as a follow up question. At the point a judgement is made does the loan cease to exist and I then pay interest on the judgement amount according to the state rates? The reason I ask this is that I continued making normal payments at normal interest rates which would have more than covered everything owed. If that is the case can I go after them for the over payment back?
