Received SummonsHi. I received a summons from a Creditor almost 30 days ago. My Debt Relief Company says that they spoke with the Creditor's lawyers and it was mentioned that there is no court date yet. My Debt Relief company and those lawyers came up with an agreement for me to pay $250 per month for 4 months and the Creditor's lawyers will review the case again after that time is up. I asked if I still need to respond to the summons and was told no. I wanted to make sure I was given the right advice. I've never gone through this before and I don't want to put myself in a bad spot for not responding (if that is the correct word). Thank you so much for any advice. |

| Always respond to a summons. If you don't they will obtain a default judgment and if you don't comply with the agreement you have in place, they will take their collection activity to the next level.

| You are probably not giving us enough information, if you have not signed a stipulation of settlement that gets filed in your courthouse to mark the case settled - then answer the summons b/c you will never know if the attorneys will just go behind your back and enter a default. |

Thank youNo, I didn't sign an agreement. Now I will need to race to pay the extra fees to get a lawyer to respond because this needs to be done by Tuesday. I don't know how to respond to it. Thank you again. |
