Repo and frozen acct. for co signer

What is the name of your state? NY.
I co signed on a loan 12 years ago. The vechile was repoed and I was never notified. I was never sent anything telling me I needed to pay for the car or that the car was repoed or auctioned. Here we are 12 years later and my bank acct is frozen. The person that applied for the loan has a good job, ownes several properties and several autos. How do I get my acct released and get the laywer to go after him. I own nothing. Please help The little bit of money I have in the bank is all I have to live on since I am a bus driver I am out of work for the summer.

You can't get your name released, as you co-signed for the loan. I have a hard time believing it has been 12 years.

None the less, you are on the hook.

In fact, you are so astonishingly correct in this matter, it will not surprise us one bit if you are offered a generous settlement, because, by golly, that’s just how it should be.

They didn't freeze your account without a judgment. Tell us the rest of the story.

I have never received anyting stating there was a judgement, and I have not moved so it is not like they could not find me. Why did they wait 12 years to contact me? That is the whole story Debit Collector.

The reason your account was seized is that they have a judgment against you.

If the SOL has not expired on your claim against them... you can pay the amount owed (in the judgment), then file a lawsuit against them for your 'damages'.

You don't. Presumably, they have a valid judgment against you and have seized your account accordingly.

You can certainly talk with the lawyer and see if you can negotiate some type of settlement. Providing valid non-exempt asset information on your friend might help.

Clearly, you 'owned' money in a bank account.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

co sign

I just wanted to let everyone no that there was no judgement against me. By calling the county clerk in the 2 counties I lived in there was no judgement against me. When I called the laywer that put the hold on my acct and told her this she told me she would send me a copy of the judgement. Lo and behold 1 hour later she called back appoligizing for the mix up because my name was not on the judgement, and she called the bank top release my account. I guess my suggestion to everyone is do not let the collectors intimidate you make sure they have proof. I almost signed all of my $$$ for no reason.
