The complaint contains a list of allegations in a numbered format. You must answer EACH allegation with 'affirm' 'deny', or 'lack sufficient knowledge'. For a really old debt, the best approach is a general denial of all allegations - can they PROVE how they arrived at the amount they say you owe ? Can they PROVE the debt is even yours ?

How old IS the debt, when was the last time the original creditor was paid ?? The statute of limitations may come into play as an affirmative defense.
