School Wage Garnishment (GRC)

What is the name of your state? California

I am trying to retract a garnishment that is coming out for a school loan. I called the company dealing with the loan(General Revenue Corporation) and asked them if there was a way to stop the garnishment and they said when the debt is paid in full or I need to make 11months of volunteer payments on top of the garnishment. I agree the debt needs to be paid but the monthly amount is killing me.

Is there any recourse I have to get myself a lower amount or to retract the garnishment and setup payments?
