Served papersWhat is the name of your state? Washington Today I was served papers for a hospital bill. It was sent to collections, and I recieved one notification from the collection agency, no phone calls. In the meantime my wife and I had our first child, so we've been pre-occupied with contacting the collection agency. I acknowledge owing the money, but it seems rather quick to be served with papers. I thought there would be some Is it too late to work out some payment plan with the collection agency? I would like to avoid a judgement. |

| You neglect to mention how long it has been since the bill first came due. The collection agency is under no obligation to delay with someone whom the hospital has already found to be a known deadbeat who is too busy living his life to be bothered with paying bills. When you called (or better yet, wrote) the collection agency to make arrangements for payment, what did they say about dropping the suit? |

| Most people are happy not to receive calls. Just goes to show you can't please everybody...

| Be careful as some states allow the hospital to put a lien on your house if you fail to pay your bills...
