Several Judgements

Nebraska, Sarpy County

I have several judgements against me --- I never wanted it to get this bad. I was laid off. You know that saying "One check away from bankruptcy" that's me. I have really tried hard to find a great job. Didn't happen. Started two jobs and never caught up and that's I got behind.

Just recently I finally found a job and I'm continuing one of my part time jobs to help me get caught up but I'm in a horrible cycle. Bounced checks, late fees. I can't get ahead. I'm frightened, sick and agitated. I've had several people say I should file bankruptcy but I can't do that. I want to start paying on these judgements and I have worked out payment plans with all other creditors. The judgements want a huge amount a month. I can't do that.

Should I seek the advice of an attorney? The attorney who filed the judgements are debt collection attornies in my area--I have talked to them and they will not negotiate. It's almost like they want me to file bankruptcy. I'm not a deadbeat. I've had "life" misfortune. What is the name of your state?

Yes, I would hire a lawyer if I were you to bargain with the judgment creditors.

I agree.. you need a lawyer. But filing for bankruptcy does NOT make you a 'deadbeat'.. geez. That's the tripe that the credit card industry brainwashed the Congress with saying that anyone who files for bankruptcy is a deadbeat.. regardless of what led to the bankruptcy.

BK is there for US citizens to use precisely to get a fresh start - to get out of the nasty downward spiral you are in. These judgments are sitting there accumulating interest - so they are NOT going to get any smaller - they're getting BIGGER by the day !
