Should I be rude or not ?What is the name of your state? NJ Around 7/1999 I had a car repoed, I bought the car in Utah, it got repoed in PA, and now I live in NJ. Well a collection agency called on friday and told me that he did or was going to file a suit against me. I told him to go F++++ himself and that I will not be paying for this debt. My questions are: Which state can they file the suit ? The car was repoed around 7-1999 but on my cr it's showing that the car was repoed around 12-1999 is that normal ? Should I try to negotiate or just wait to see if they really file the siut ? The amount is around 12 K |

My response: Don't pay what you owe!! Wait to see if they sue you. I just love a good edge-of-my-seat deadbeat debtor story! Come back when you're living on the street and let us know how you're doing. IAAL |

| Ignore IAAL, he may well be the Coll. Agent that called you. That being said, you probably didn't do the right thing with regards to your rights. Cursing at someone over the phone will probably give your file a flag that you're not coorperative and could easily escalate it to a lawsuit. And judgements can be nasty things to deal with for YEARS. I'm not well versed on rules and regs. for the rules associated with Repos. I'm sure somebody here can help you find them (and translate) for each of those states. They will PROBABLY file suit in the jurisdiction that you live in now, although they might be allowed to file in the jurisdiciton where the repo happened. The best thing is probably to deal with these people, IN WRITING, CERTIFIED MAIL ONLY, and see what kind of agreement you can come to regarding the repo defficiency. Best of luck! |
