| SLM Loan Sharks and Computer Training School What is the name of your state? Ohio
I am having trouble with a company called SLM Financial (aka "Sallie Mae").
About 5 years ago (2001) I signed a contract with Career Blazers Learning Center (computer training school) in Sharonville, Ohio. When I tried to get out of the contract -- and I did indeed make attempts to contact them before the deadline for withdrawal from the contract -- they avoided me. I never attended the school or even saw any money that Career Blazers received from SLM. I reported Career Blazers to the BBB in 2001 right after I realized that they weren't going to let me back out of the contract.
Now SLM has put the supposed loan that I owe them into "charge out" default and when I gave up fighting them (because I've no money for a lawyer to fight them), and offered to consolidate what I supposedly owe them (around $5,300), they said that I actually owed them $7,700 due to the interest accrued. SLM said that they would give me a settlement if I could get them $5,500. I called my preferred consolidation company, but that company will not consolidate loans that are not in good standing. SLM won't budge; I can't consolidate unless they put my loan into good standing, and I can't pay them a settlement because I make only $8/hour.
I reiterate: I never saw a dime of the money that Career Blazers received from SLM Financial, and I never attended classes at that computer training school. In short, I never benefitted from or wanted the money SLM Financial gave Career Blazers.
Can you please help me? I live in Cincinnati, Ohio and your company is the only one that I found in a Google search that seems to be offering help to people like me who (I feel) have been wronged and unreasonably pushed around by loan sharks and bunk debts. Even though I do not think that the money SLM gave Career Blazers is a justified or ethical loan, I don't have the resources to fight it and so at this point I just want to pay SLM off via consolidation so that they can't continue to destroy my credit. I am very poor and am in enough legitimate educational debt without having to deal with SLM Financial's strong arm tactics for this questionable business practice.
The Career Blazers Learning Center in Sharonville, Ohio is no longer in business, but that company did not shut down during the time period that I would have been considered enrolled there.
Thank you for your time and your consideration! |
