SOL on CC debt more than 7 years old

Hi all-
I have debt was opened in LA. Left there in Dec. 2001, -kept my name, and my LA mailing address for contact, as well as getting mail at my parent's address, and my new (PA) address-forgot about this bill (Major life change).

I was under the assumption that SOL was up on the debt, all of which was standard credit card (one was secured)

My parents got a call from an attorney stating "[Your child] better call us, or we will sue."

This is the first contact from this attorney.

Do I have to negotiate with these people, or what? Does the SOL still have time on it?
I haven't been hiding, nor have I left the U.S. so don't know if earlier threads apply also to me.
bugger
