What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Kentucky

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Kentucky

We will call him Gabe . Gabe bought a car for like 2,500$ it was in gabes name. His friend was gonna put gabes name on his insurance. Gabe thought the car had to be register'd to whoever insurance it was cause thats what his friend told him. So gabe went to the court house and signed his car over to his friend. His friend then put the car on his insurance. Gabe pay'ed the monthly payments and everything was fine for a couple months. while at work someone hit gabes car while it was parked and no one was hurt, gabe was at the scene it was in his work parking lot . Gabe was at no fault and the other guy was at fault, he did have insurance. Gabe called his friend, his friend called and made a claim. His friend wouldnt let him see no paper work gabe had to belive him at his word on what the insurance settled for. The friend said two checks are coming in the mail, the first check came, they went to the bank and two day hold was placed. On the third day they went to the bank and it was three hundred dollar short. He said he would pay it back. Gabe is short three hundred dollars and the second check hasnt came in. So all in all around 600$. Also gabe drove around in a rental as well for a month, cause his friend went to a place and got him a rental. Gabe recorded all the conversation of him admitting his friend and him about signing up on his insurance and him paying it. He also wrote a little contract stating that his friend owed him the money by a certain date, with his friend signing it and agreeing with the audio recorder on. You can hear his friend talking bout the contract. What to do is his question?

Sorry for the bad grammar and the stupidty of gabe.
