statue of limitation on a property lien

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?CT
We are trying to refinance our mortgage and the title co. has advised us their is a lien on our property placed by a dentist in NJ in 1990 in the amount of $900. + interest for 14 years. My question is, is this still owed? We have no paperwork from 14 years ago and don't even remember this dentist. If this is not "colletible" how do I remove the lien. I also have never had any correspondence from the attorney in CT handling this lien. Please advise. Thank you.

First off the atty. has to prove that you owed the bill. they did that in court.
second off the judgement was probably renewed after 10 years. when you didn't pay it in that time.
third now that you know about it. what are you going to do? pay it or try to get out of it?

before a judgement is issused. 1. they have to have a good address for you. 2. they either send you certified mail to you or have a sherriff attempt to serve you. if you don't take the cert mail or the sherriff has attempted to serve you 3 times. it shows that there was an attempt to notify you of the summons and complaint.
if you don't show up for court then it is automatically awarded to the creditor. that is what happened.

can you get out of it, sure if you wait for another 6 years, or 'do the decent and honorable thing' and pay the bill, or settle the account with the person or persons that have the judgement.
